General Summary of Findings by Statistical Significance

This page presents the cumulative findings of all analyses performed on this website. To date, all analyses test the Qur’ânic initials only. The first section tabulates all findings with a level of significance of at least p < .2 (i.e., 20% probability) and specifies which tests produced the results in each case. The second section separates all findings into two lists, namely, those tests that included the alif-initialed chapters, and those tests that did not. The third section lists only the most significant outcome for each of five rule conditions: 4 rules (principal analysis); 3 rules (4th or 6th supplementary analysis); 2 rules (3rd or 7th supplementary analysis); 1 rule (1st supplementary analysis); and no rules (2nd or 5th supplementary analysis). For each outcome, the number in bold refers to the prime number for which the noted level of significance was found.

The intent of these tabulations is to illustrate the actual amount of variance in significant outcomes generated by the various analyses. A common argument made against findings of great significance for multiples of 19 is that multiples of other numbers would produce similarly surprising levels of significance if different tests were performed. If such were the case, then with each change in the rules used to generate the working data set, one or two highly unusual multiples of other numbers would appear and the 19-based code would prove rather frail by comparison. As a consequence, the tabulations that follow would include several highly significant (p < .001) outcomes, along with the significant outcomes associated with the number 19.

At the same time, the following lists should provide some general insight into which structural features of the Qur’ân are probably most closely linked to the Qur’ân Code, and which are not.

Section 1—All Findings

This section lists all findings resulting from all analyses performed to date, for levels of significance of p < .2 (i.e., 20% probability). Note that the most highly significant prime number after 19 is 59, which is directly associated with a multiple of 19: The total for the first ħâ-mîm series is 1,121, which is 19 x 59. Interestingly, the two most significant findings do not depend on the exclusion of the alif-initialed chapters to achieve their respective levels of significance, nor do they require the complete array of four rules present in the principal analysis.

The 6th and 7th supplementary analyses dominate every list featured here. These two analyses only clustered chapters into quasi-similar groups. That is, all alif-lâm-mîm chapters, including the one with the additional şâd, constituted a single unit for the purpose of counting the Qur’ânic initials. Likewise, all alif-lâm-râ chapters, including the one with the extra mîm inserted, constituted a single unit. In the 7th supplementary analysis, these sums were not aggregated across the interruption in the ħâ-mîm group made by ‘ayn-sîn-qâf. This would suggest that quasi-similarity is the main grouping rule for the muqaţţa‘ât.

Section 2—All Findings by Data Condition

This section separates all findings into two lists, namely, those tests that included the alif-initialed chapters, and those tests that did not, for levels of significance of p < .2 (i.e., 20% probability). Note that in Part I the most highly significant prime number after 19 is 11, which is directly associated with a multiple of 19: The total for ‘ayn-sîn-qâf is 209, which is 19 x 11. In Part II the most significant number after 19 is 59. As noted in the introduction to Section 1 above, this number is directly associated with a multiple of 19, as the total for the first ħâ-mîm series is 1,121, which is 19 x 59.

Section 3—Most Significant Findings by Rule Condition

As in the previous section, all findings are separated into three lists: tests that included the alif-initialed chapters but did not count hamzah; tests that included the alif-initialed chapters and counted hamzah; and tests that did not include the alif-initialed chapters. Findings are limited to levels of significance of p < .2 (i.e., 20% probability). Interestingly, the most significant findings include the alif-initialed chapters. This offers strong support for the theory that the Qur’ân Code was meant to be detected even in the midst of changes in the usage of the letter alif. By comparison, the with-hamzah counts appear to suffer from some degradation of significance. Although more evidence is necessary, this may indicate that the letter hamzah should not be counted. This would be consistent with the hamzah's etiological history, but apparently not with the manner in which Dr. Khalifa approached the subject matter.
